Change of managing director at e2m

Setting the course for future growth and expansion in the renewable energies sector

Energy2market GmbH (e2m) announces a change in its management. Raphael Hirtz, who will take on a new area of responsibility within the EDF Group at the turn of the year, will be succeeded by Hannes Behacker. With his expertise in the areas of renewable energies and innovative business models, Hannes Behacker will drive the further development of e2m and, together with Félix Reynaud, consistently implement the company’s long-term growth strategy.

“We are delighted to welcome Hannes as our new Managing Director. With him at the helm, we are ideally positioned to achieve our ambitious goals for the coming years,” says Félix Reynaud, President of EDF Agregio Solutions. “At a time when the market for renewable energies and smart energy solutions is growing rapidly, it is our clear objective to continue to invest heavily in innovative products and technologies and to expand our market position sustainably.”

New virtual power plant is in the pilot phase

At the same time as the change in management, e2m is introducing the next generation of its Virtual Power Plant (VPP). The new VPP will enable the optimization of all connected plants in all electricity trading and balancing energy markets in equal measure. The characteristics of different plants can be ideally combined, for example the high reaction speed of battery storage with the “staying power” of a biogas plant. This “teamwork” enables the best possible revenues. e2m is ahead of its competitors with the new VPP: electricity trading and grid services are offered from a single source. The first customers with battery storage and combined PV storage systems have already been connected and are benefiting from additional revenue potential, with more existing customers to follow next year.

Focus on the growth market of battery storage

Under the new management, e2m will invest massively in the further development and scaling of intelligent, technology-based solutions for renewable energies and focus on creating efficient marketing strategies. “Today, we have days when renewables cover more than 100% of electricity consumption. Soon there will increasingly be days with a significant surplus. This will only work with a massive expansion of battery storage and intelligent control systems that distribute this generation and keep the grids stable at the same time.

This is exactly where e2m comes in,” explains the new Managing Director. “Whether as a stand-alone solution or in combination with renewable energy systems, battery storage systems offer enormous revenue potential and make a decisive contribution to the success of the energy transition. With e2m’s many years of experience in the marketing and optimization of flexible systems, we are a strong partner for our customers,” concludes Hannes Behacker.

aFRR market: What really counts

Everyone is talking about battery storage. Many providers – especially start-ups – promise astronomical revenues in theFRR market. But a look at the official data from the German Federal Cartel Office shows that none of these start-ups are in the top 5 FRR marketers. Instead, one name stands out: Energy2market – the only major provider for small and medium-sized plants alongside corporate giants such as RWE and EnBW. Why? Because we simply do prequalification better.
