Automated processes, continuous revenues
SachsenEnergie markets several plants with e2m, including the Nossener Brücke CHP plant. The electrode boiler is marketed there for balancing energy. With its fast response times, it is ideal for negative secondary balancing power (SRL). Excess electricity from the grid is absorbed and converted into heat like an immersion heater. This in turn flows into the heating network.
The Reick gas engine cogeneration plant is marketed in the SRL.
“In this way, our power plant flexibilities benefit grid stability, while our basic processes remain virtually unaffected,” explains Sebastian Groß, Project Manager at SachsenEnergie and responsible for the economic operation of the plants.
“The processes are automated to such an extent and all the gears mesh so that our collaboration runs almost silently. Despite the ups and downs in the market, our participation in balancing energy brings in continuous revenues that are impressive. e2m’s bidding strategy is very consistent and successful – we hardly have a time slice that is not awarded. In this way, we earn good money with power provision,” continues Groß.

About SachsenEnergie AG
Dresden’s district heating network has been massively expanded since reunification. SachsenEnergie is continuing this strategy and is continuously investing in the expansion of Dresden’s district heating networks. With the plant at Nossener Brücke and other energy-efficient power plants that operate on the principle of combined heat and power generation and utilize a large proportion of the energy, over 800,000 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) can already be saved in Dresden every year compared to conventional heating systems.
The Reick innovation power plant, the “engine room of the energy transition”, combines conventional and renewable energy generation plants with battery storage systems to create a sustainable energy system for the future.
"Despite the ups and downs in the market, participation in balancing energy generates continuous revenues that are impressive. e2m's bidding strategy is very consistent and successful - we hardly have a time slice that is not awarded a tariff. This is how we earn good money with power provision."
