Balancing responsible parties comment on the draft amendment to the EnWG

The e2m and 16 other signatory companies are taking a stand and expressing their conviction that the proposed legislation on Section 20 (1a) sentence 9 EnWG-E inhibits the integration of renewable energies and cannot be implemented in practice. It places fluctuating electricity producers such as PV and wind power under general suspicion and hinders the integration of renewable energies into the electricity market. Together, the companies place well over 40 gigawatts of solar and wind power on the electricity exchanges every day.

In order to adapt the current energy system to the challenges posed by the accelerated expansion of renewable energies, the proposed legislation must be harmonized with EU law. At the very least, the functioning “status quo” should be maintained and secured at the legislative level.

The joint position paper of the direct marketers with further background information, examples and demands is publicly available. The signatories are Axpo Deutschland GmbH, BayWa r.e. Energy Trading GmbH, Centrica Energy Trading AS, CF Flex Power GmbH, Danske Commodities A/S, Energi Danmark A/S, enspired GmbH, Energy2market GmbH, MVV Trading GmbH, Next Kraftwerke GmbH, Optimax Energy GmbH, PURE Energy GmbH, Statkraft Markets GmbH, Sunnic Lighthouse GmbH, Trailstone Renewables GmbH, Volkswind GmbH and Wind Energy Trading WET AG.

More revenue with full security of supply: e2m and VK Energie combine their strengths

The energy transition poses enormous challenges for plant operators: volatile energy markets, increasing regulatory requirements and the complexity of hybrid structures consisting of electricity, heat and storage. Heat-led plants in particular are caught between security of supply and economic efficiency. Only those who intelligently combine technical optimization and access to all relevant energy markets will be successful.
