Orientation for plant operators – e2m winter conference on 25.01. classifies the current situation in the energy market and offers practical solutions

  • Topics on January 25, 2023 in Schweinfurt: Legislative procedures on biogas, the tense operating environment and the revenue opportunities for operators of biogas plants from flexibility
  • Further presentations on substrates, sector coupling and fuels from a scientific and legal perspective are on the program

The opening lecture of the fourth e2m winter conference “Biogas power production in turbulent times” on 25.01.2023 will focus on biogas as an energy source and the energy policy environment. The other presentations from the worlds of politics, business and science will provide guidance to farmers and other operator groups on how to successfully survive the ongoing adversities of the current market situation.

Revenue opportunities for biogas plant operators

Energy consultant Hannes Geitner from the Bavarian State Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Forestry talks about the “Tense situation – the operational environment for plant operators”. Dr. Christof Petrick, Head of Portfolio Management & Data Analysis at e2m, will explain the revenue opportunities for biogas plant operators in his presentation “Futures market, day-ahead market, balancing energy – market potential for small and medium-sized market participants”. The presentation “What is the value of flexibility for operators? The work of the Flexperten” with Uwe Welteke-Fabricius from the Flexperten network. From a practical perspective, plant operator Stefan Ehrlich will talk about “Biogas production today – diversity makes you more independent”.
Dr. Peter Kornatz will present his findings at the DBFZ German Biomass Research Center under the heading “Biogas in famine – when substrate is no longer affordable”.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Uwe Holzhammer from Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences will talk about the complex “Coupling the electricity, heat and mobility sectors in the light of current market dynamics”. “Electricity, heat and fuels from biogas – legal framework and current developments” will conclude the presentations. The speaker here is Dr. Hartwig von Bredow, lawyer at vonBredow Valentin Herz Partnerschaft von Rechtsanwälten mbB.

In particular, the panel discussion at lunchtime will shed light on the political dimension.

Kurt Kretschmer, who is responsible for energy policy at e2m, will certainly bring panel members Dr. Hartwig von Bredow, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Uwe Holzhammer and Uwe Welteke-Fabricius into controversial discussions. Our high-caliber experts will be discussing the current situation on the energy market.

About the e2m:

Making electricity generation and consumption more flexible is essential for the success of the energy transition in order to ensure the stability of the electricity system and thus the security of supply.

The e2m makes a decisive contribution to this: the energy aggregator opens up the flexibility of decentralized generation and consumption systems and paves the way for them to enter the market. As a pioneer and market leader in the marketing and optimization of biogas plants and battery storage systems, the energy trading company proves this every day.

e2m has all the relevant trading access points to bundle, control and integrate decentralized technologies into the electricity market using its virtual power plant – renewable energy plants as well as combined heat and power plants or large industrial consumers. With its multi-market approach and using its own state-of-the-art analysis software, the energy service provider ensures the best possible placement and marketing of the flexibility provided on the generator and consumer side. As a result, e2m is already living the energy market of the future today.

As the largest direct marketing company for energy and the largest pool provider for balancing energy, the company works in a results-oriented, transparent manner and on an equal footing with customers and partners. With the help of its innovative applications, e2m ensures the integration of its customers into the energy market. The energy trading company sets standards in the design of decentralized and renewable energy systems, and not only in Germany. Its own virtual power plant is already in use in several countries and is being continuously developed in order to drive forward the switch to renewable energies worldwide.
